Brief
Over the past 90+ years Schlumberger built one of the strongest brands in oil and gas services. When creating the SLB brand, we needed to build a visual identity system to drive recognition as well as providing the flexibility to enable the brand to effectively represent the complexity of
the business.
Brand Identity
I had a instrumental role in the brand transformation as well as developing the brand identity, my role included: managing multiple brand work streams, producing guidelines, working closely with freelancer designers to build, craft and deliver 3D visualisations, design awards and physical signage installations.
Name: A new name ‘SLB’ was chosen as it bridges the heritage and the future of the company – aligning the business with their .com, colloquial name, and stock exchange ticker symbol.
Logo: A purpose-driven symbol. We looked for a way to embody SLB’s purpose and symbolise their role in the energy transition. The carbon budget curve, setting out the journey to net-zero, provided that stimulus. As the world’s most important graph, it will act as a compass for SLB as they contribute to balancing the energy mix while balancing the climate.
Results & Impact: 100 investors attended brand launch at NYSE, 80,000+ customers & visitors experienced the brand at ADIPEC and SLB were congratulated by their competitors.
